A BEAUTIFUL IDEA FOR PALM SUNDAY
This Sunday, April 5th, we begin Holy Week. It is Palm Sunday, the day we remember Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Because of social distancing, we won’t enjoy seeing our children come into the worship services waving palm branches while we sing Hosanna, Loud Hosanna. So, in addition to watching our online worship service at 11:00am, what is another way we can we acknowledge this important day on the Christian calendar when so many of us will be behind closed doors? We like this idea that the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit posted on their Facebook page. We hope you will, too.
What if everyone on Sunday April 5, in the morning, puts a branch on the door of their house or on the window, to celebrate Palm Sunday?
It could be any green branch you can get. This would help, despite the social distancing, to be connected as we enter into the Holiest of Weeks.
We may be physically isolated, but not separated. We are united as the body of Christ. We are the Church. Yes, we are. We’ve got this. Let’s do it.
Want to join us? Consider taking a picture of your door or window with your green branch – with you/your family in the picture of course! - and post to your Facebook, Instagram and/or Twitter account and include #fairhopeumcwhateverittakes. Also, be sure to tag @fairhopeumc on Instagram! If you prefer, you can email the picture to and we’ll take care of the rest.
