Pray With Confidence

Pray With Confidence

by Rev. Ontonio Christie on February 19, 2021

Philippians 4:4-9

4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. 5 Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. 6 Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.

I lived in a small farming town in Jamaica where people prayed about everything. There were times they did not have enough money to buy food or pay their bills.

There were times when drought prevented them from farming, and they had no other means of surviving. There were times when they were sick, and there was no doctor or hospital nearby.

I watched these people face those tremendous struggles without displaying anxiety and fear. How? It was because they knew where all their provision came from, and they believed the written word of God.

They prayed with confidence, knowing that God will accomplish God’s purposes through them as they reach out to God with passion, with purpose, and with persistence.

Be anxious for nothing, dear friends, but instead PRAY WITH CONFIDENCE, knowing that God will accomplish God’s purpose through you and me. God always provides for God’s people.

Reflection:

What’s making you anxious today?

Let Us Pray:

Loving Creator,

Hear the cry of my anxious heart. Forgive me for not trusting in you more. Today I turn over all my cares to you through prayer and supplication, believing that you will take care of me. Amen

Blessed Love,

Rev. O
