Fairhope UMC Preschool
A socially developmentally appropriate preschool where children learn to play and play to learn.
Terry Lowell, Preschool Director
Our objective for the young children enrolled in preschool is to provide a happy, stimulating, loving Christian environment in which children are encouraged to grow:
Intellectually by fostering a zest for learning and inquiry; by providing opportunities for investigation, participation, and self-expression; by enhancing understanding of the natural world and how to live in it.
Socially by providing opportunities for working and playing with others; by teaching respect for personal and property rights of others; by modeling attitudes of kindness, cooperation, courtesy, helpfulness and caring toward others, by teaching age-appropriate individual and social responsibility in a group setting.
Emotionally by teaching appropriate emotional responses to group situations; by encouraging verbalization of feelings instead of resorting to violence to resolve conflict.
Spiritually by helping the child view the Church as a special place to learn more about God, by presenting age-appropriate concepts about the Bible, Jesus' life and works, God's love and care for us, the wonders of God's world, and Old and New Testament heroes by modeling love in interacting with the children.
Preschool is in session Monday through Friday mornings, 9am - 12pm.
Our program accepts children from young two (second birthday falls within the school year) through pre-k. A child may be enrolled in the 3 year old or 4 year old group if his or her birthday comes before September 1st of the current school year.
