When We're Stuck in the Past (Traditional Worship)

Passage: John 21:1-19
After the resurrection, Peter and some disciples return to the familiar work of fishing. They are in a space between past vocation and their future calling. Jesus meets them at the shore, providing a miraculous catch and restoring Peter after his denial. In times of transition, we often return to what we know, yet Jesus calls us forward. But the past—tradition, habits, comfort, regrets and mistakes—are like quicksand exerting a powerful hold on our lives. Liminal spaces give us the opportunity to let go of the past and lean into new directions. How might our encounters with the risen Christ give us new perspective that allows us to step into a present call?
